In the first two weeks of Russia’s war in Ukraine, more than 200,000 refugees crossed the Hungarian border. Our government expects to receive altogether 500,000 to 600,000 people. Most of the refugees travel on to their relatives and friends in third countries, some of them will stay in Hungary. Providing them with accommodation, care and helping them to settle will be done in large part by communities and NGOs.

Roots & Wings Foundation is collecting donations, small and big, to support Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in Hungary. We have supported numerous community organisations and social change projects since our establishment in 2014. We have wonderful and trusted partners, such as the network of 6 community foundations, all over the country, including several very near the Hungarian-Ukrainian border. They are already working hard to ensure that support and care to refugees are provided according to the quickly changing needs; they help Hungarian communities to be welcoming and accommodating and transport in-kind gifts across the border to Ukraine. Donations received will be regularly re-granted to community foundations, community-based organisations and other NGOs on the ground and working directly with refugees.

We are working with our partners to end the suffering of refugees and let them see the light of hope as soon as possible. Please help us to do so!
